As I take this opportunity, I am most thankful for God and my wife and family. No matter what else is going on, when those relationships are right, everything else pales in comparison. I am also grateful to have had the opportunity to move back to beautiful southern California. It is a privilege to live here - near the ocean, a place that is warm and pleasant, and rife with so much opportunity. Its often said that California is among the top ten of the world’s largest economies (<a href:"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_California">1</a>), and having lived in many different places, I have to say I find that easy to believe. I have never lived anywhere with so many diverse opportunities to work.<br /><br />Regarding work, it is a pleasure to be able to work in my own business as a marketing consultant. Actually, “consultant” doesn’t really quite capture what I do. “Virtual Marketing Director” – or department, even, would be more appropriate. To be able to work with nearly any business-to-business manufacturer, helping them develop and implement effective marketing, is a result of many years’ experience gained at companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, and Goellner, Inc. – all global manufacturers. Plus I have been a member of the Business Marketing Association for over 16 years, and have maintained CBC certification nearly as long. For those years of experience I am very grateful. They have prepared me for a variety of circumstances and market conditions, for which I have learned and applied many marketing solutions. They have also given me opportunities to explore leading-edge marketing techniques from CRM and sales automation, to specialized demo or purchasing software. And of course, I’ve had the opportunity to employ nearly every form of traditional marketing method in the B-2-B arsenal, from advertising to webinars. <br /><br />I am also thankful that in recent years, marketing has improved, becoming even more measurable, thanks to the analytical tools available for the internet, and for the increasing variety of marketing and sales automation tools. Marketing is delivering better, and more provable ROI than ever before. And with the advent of “Web 2.0”, it has not only added channels of communication, but allows more bi-directional interaction between company and customer.<br /><br />I’d like to take this opportunity to also thank all of you who I have had the chance to get to know, and to work with. I hope to continue to work with you in the months and years ahead.
